Advising

Advising at NICC

What's the difference between Advisors?

  • Your Faculty Advisor is your "NICC's Degree Program Expert"
  • Your Student Service Advisor is your "NICC Campus Expert" on all things student-related.

Faculty Advisors “NICC’s Degree Program Expert” Helps pick the best courses for students’ degree, interests, future career, time commitments, transfer courses, etc. After helping student select courses, help student self-register by giving them their PIN. Primarily responsible for updating returning students’ (and transfer students’) degree plan for current and future semesters. Refer students to resources as needed, including Student Services. Student Services- “NICC’s Campus Expert” on all things student-related. Provides resource connections: financial aid/ scholarships, academic support, accommodations, food security, health support, etc. Provides additional support for new students and initial advisement. Primarily responsible for beginning the students’ degree planning form when registering for classes. Also helps support students with registration if on academic suspension/probation.
