Earning Your GED at NICC!

What GED study programs are offered at NICC?

Alpha II

NICC’s GED program Alpha II is the Omaha Tribe/s program that has been sub-contracted by NICC. Opening enrollment to anyone interested in their personal self-development, Alpha II and the Omaha Tribe have experienced a long-term project of successful advocacy for adult learning that ultimately leads to obtaining their GED.  The Program offers Diagnostics, providing realistic and appropriate program placement with an estimated time for GED test readiness, Prescriptions (personalized learning), and instructional Resources in Reading and Math, (online and in person).  In addition to Customizing Student Assessment, it includes the foundational skills and Resources which are all adaptable to the Alpha II Learning Management System. In reference to time tracking, the Alpha System tracks the date and time of each student’s login. Evaluation is an ongoing process with formative assessments, module lessons, and summative assessments detailing student achievement. The students get immediate feedback on their progress.

Readiness to test in 1 of the 4 areas, can be measured in diverse ways through study programs, official pre-tests, etc. NICC’s GED Programs typically work through a 1,2,3 process when it comes to testing.

  1. Study with NICC GED Study Programs until you are ready for testing.
  2. Schedule an official GEDReady Practice Test on GED Website . At $6 this is a great way to see if you are likely to pass the official test.*
  3. If your practice test is passed, you are recommended to schedule your official test on GED Website either at an official testing center or you may be able to take the online option in your own home: GED Test Scheduling. Discuss these options with your GED Tutor/Instructor.

* If you are unable to pay for your GED practice or official test, please contact your GED Tutor/Instructor. Support may be available but is dependent on funding source availability.
