Nebraska Indian Community College recently attended the Omaha Nation Public School Community Night.  ONPS holds these community meetings bi-monthly and it is an opportunity for students and their parents to learn about various community programs and to interact in a learning environment with many activities.  The community nights are set up like a fair—with various tables and booths from community programs to present and share information.  Following the activities supper is served to students and their parents.  During NICC’s visit, the college presented thumbnail images of Facebook pages and talked about how what is on our Facebook page shows the world our values and our interests.  There was also discussion of some of the potential negative aspects of Facebook as well and how students can protect their information and themselves.  Examples were given also of just how quickly information can spread on social media sights such as Facebook in both positive and negative ways.
