Dakota Miller

My name is Dakota Miller, and I am an adjunct instructor of public speaking. I grew up in rural northeast Nebraska and have been involved with NICC in a number of different capacities. Whether I was taking classes, planting trees, or tutoring, I have found the students, staff, and faculty at NICC committed to creating a dynamic learning environment. I first became interested in studying speech communication while taking classes at Wayne State College. Helpful professors led me to continue my education, and I wound up at Colorado State University to get my masters degree in communication studies with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Civic Engagement. My thesis investigated communication around the Bakken Oil Boom in North Dakota. After that, I moved down south to get my PhD at the University of Georgia. My time has been nice, but I get homesick easily and enjoy the opportunity to teach and take some classes at NICC when I can. I enjoy hiking, reading, writing, riding horses, traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
